Although based on traditional pilates exercises, fitness pilates is a modern take on pilates training which incorporates the basic techniques and adapts these training your body to move in a functional motion. The exercises are designed to assist you in your every day life by strengthening your core, increasing flexibility and improving posture and mobility of joints. It is a controlled conditioning class which offers many options for all levels to challenge the individual. Why should you try it? When we make any movement our core will have to do something…. If we bend down to pick up an object, we need our back muscles to pull us back up right and our obliques and our 6-pack muscle to control any lateral or twisting movement. And from a sports performance perspective, for example, the tennis serve or golf swing requires the core becoming even more involved as not only does it control your movement but it also transmits the force behind it. Here the core flexes, extends, and rotates and flexes in order to serve or swing. A weak core in sports performance or in every day activities themselves, could lead to back pain, lack of performance and even worse injury. This class is for both men and women and should not be looked at as a remedial pilates class but as an strengthening and injury preventative session for the open minded client.
