Free Art Friday
If you are out and about in Tandridge today – keep your eyes peeled, as you could be the lucky owner of some free art!
Bogdan Zarkowski started fly posting hand-signed, limited edition, A3 prints of Expired Posters around Surrey, Kent and Sussex as well as other counties (and countries when he’s abroad) every Friday since the beginning of 2014 for members of the public to find and keep as part of the ‘Free Art Friday’ worldwide artists community. Bogdan now limits his free art fly posting to a more manageable monthly distribution, with most of the art being left within Tandridge. When he was introduced to ‘Free Art Friday’ he immediately fell in love with the ethos of giving the public something for nothing.
“Free Art Friday is the perfect vehicle for distributing my work to the public.” Bogdan says, “It allows me to return to the street what was taken from the street – the idea of someone unexpectedly finding my expired poster prints, hanging up in the street is akin to the buzz I get when I find expired posters to photograph (or take down) from the street.”
The ongoing public and media response to Expired Poster’s free art distribution has been truly amazing . . .
This is the October 2015, Free Art, which will be posted somewhere in Tandridge! Look out for clues on its location here.

The October 2015 print was found and claimed by Anna Orridge. She says “I found one of your prints on the noticeboard in front of Sanderstead Rec when I was walking back from the post office. I spent a few minutes squinting at it before deciding it really was OK to take it down and bring it home. It’s called ‘Musique Festival’, and is now framed and hanging on our bedroom wall, next to the book shelves. We’ve just had the walls papered red, and the colours of the prinl match beautifully. I and my partner are also keen festival attenders, so it is a very good match. I think your initiative is a smashing idea. Thank you to your community!
One of the November, signed, limited edition prints called ‘Stress Relief’ was found by Tim Spence who kindly wrote “Thank you for the free art. I don’t know how many pieces you have hereabouts but mine came from the duck pond at Godstone. I found it at the end of a dull and frustrating day of missed buses, missed trains and missed cinema visits. I was sitting down to eat a disappointing sandwich when, even in the twilight of closing day, I noticed a splash of colour surmounted by my favourite word, ‘free’. Suddenly, the day was transformed: things hadn’t conspired for me to miss anything but had arranged themselves for me to find this and I am very grateful.”
Free art clue – It’s Good Friday and the offices at In Tandridge must look inside out.
