Over the past 3 years, our Annual T20 Cricket Event has raised over £3,500 for local charities, schools and youth cricket development at Woldingham Village Cricket Club.

We held our 4th event on Wednesday and we’re delighted to say that (with a couple of donations still to come) we raised another £1,960!

Our chosen charity this year is Surrey And Sussex NHS Trust (SASH) and we will be making our donation to their big fundraising appeal to help create a fantastic new neonatal intensive care / special care unit at East Surrey Hospital for the 500 families every year whose babies arrive very very prematurely (as young as 27 weeks, rather than the expected 40 weeks) or require special care when they are born.

We started with an ‘All Stars’ Cricket session, with an open invite for all children to join in and have some fun.

All Stars Cricket is an English Cricket Board initiative, aimed at giving 5-8 year olds a brilliant first time cricket experience.

This is Woldingham Village Cricket Club’s second year of All Stars and the 8 week course has been hugely popular again this year.

Following this, we had our fun children and adult game on the main pitch, allowing everyone that wanted to an opportunity to bat, bowl and field!

We then moved on to the main event…. the T20 cricket match between (our) inTandridge Tigers and Woldingham Village Cricket Club (WVCC).

WVCC have won 3 out of 3 so far, so we were looking to cause an upset and get our first win in this fixture.

Unlike in previous years, we batted first this time, scoring 148-9 in our 20 overs.

The pressure was now WVCC and after some great bowling and fielding, it came down to the last over, with WVCC needing 12 runs to win (from 6 balls).

Saturday team captain, Angelo, was batting.

First ball, four. Second ball, four.  Third ball, dot ball (no runs). Fourth ball…. four!

WVCC won the game with just 2 balls remaining! The closest game so far.

inTandridge Tigers: Thanura, Neil Carnt, Jon Mason, Lloyd Owen-Skull, Tom Gowers, Malinda, Ben Pearce, Mark Hodges, Ryan,  Robert Brown, Allan Guild, Andrew Barton (replaced injured Neil Carnt).

WVCC: Thusith Fernando, Nick Lewis, Matt Redferne, Steve Early, Stuart Flynn, Angelo, Paul Bennett, Guy Collins, Ryan Ambanpola, Akalanka, Wazam.
