Oxted's Picnic In The Park
InTandridge recently met up with Sue Sheen, organiser of Oxted’s Picnic in the Park – and it was great to hear about the exciting plans for this year’s event!
In it’s second year, Sue wants to create a fantastic day out for all the family in Oxted, and most importantly, a FREE day in the park!
The The Oxted Picnic in the Park Food & Family Festival (Picnic in the Park) incorporates local producers offering their products for sale on the day, along with artisan food and drink stalls for attendees to buy from, but with access to the picnic event remaining free entry, which means access to a whole host of family fun on offer – including children’s games, activities, and entertainment – which again will all be free!
Busydays Face Painting are already booked in for the picnic, and the plan is for free face painting (paid for by a local business sponsor), although there may be a paid for fast-line, where people in a hurry can by-pass the free queue, for a small fee!
Sue is very passionate about creating a brilliant community event, and weather permitting, it sounds like it is going to be a great day!
The picnic will be centred around the Oxted Fun Dog Show, in association with Oxted MediVet, who are planning to host their Open Day at the same time!
All proceeds from the Oxted Fun Dog Show will go to the Wilderness Foundation Saving the Rhino campaign.
The dog show classes include “Prettiest Bitch”, “Most Handsome Dog”, “Tiny Tots” and “Biggest Bear”! (You can see a full schedule here). And, as with last year, there will be a Champion and Reserve Champion trophy awarded on the day.
Although Oxted’s Picnic in the Park will be a free event for the community, with lots of free activities and entertainment, there are some expensive things that do need paying for – public liability insurance, the stage, electrical output etc… and with that in mind, Sue is looking for some community-spirited local businesses to provide sponsorship, and of course gain some great local exposure!
The Picnic in the Park will be producing its own event magazine, to be distributed to residents and businesses in the surrounding area prior to the event day, and this offers additional advertising and sponsorship exposure to all involved.
The day would not be complete without some relaxing and fun family music, and after 80’s sensation Modern Romance bringing out the sun last year, Sue is now looking for solo artists, musicians and singers to provide acoustic music in exchange for some time in the spotlight (or white covered marquee!)
If you would be interested in getting up and playing, would like to provide some entertainment, or if your business would like to be involved and would like to hear about the sponsorship opportunities, please call Sue Sheen on 01342 892588 or email [email protected]
